Details: The SpringHill Suites project included construction of mechanical systems valued at $326,000. This three-story facility in Lansing, Michigan features 104 guest suites with separate living, pantry and sleeping areas, guest laundry facilities, indoor pool and spa tub. Eaton County’s Charter Township of Delta, where the facility is located, has stricter-than-usual building and mechanical codes. As an example, the township required fire collars on all floor and wall openings for the sanitary piping system. In case of fire, these collars are designed to collapse and seal off the area to reduce the potential spread of fire. Familiarity with these and other codes—along with the proper fixtures, equipment, and installation techniques to comply with them—enabled quick and efficient construction, completing the project on time and on budget.
